Participation Principles

Participation Should Begin With Clarity

Any future participation program IPS builds should be grounded in the following principles. These describe standards IPS is developing, not adopted operational policy.

  • Accurate descriptions of roles
  • Informed and voluntary participation
  • Non-discrimination
  • Consent and personal boundaries
  • Accessibility
  • Respect for cultural and community autonomy
  • Transparent use of contributed work
  • Privacy and responsible data handling
  • Clear supervision and accountability
  • A documented concerns and removal process
Honest Limitations

This Website Does Not Currently Operate Screening or Safeguarding Systems

None of the following are currently in place:

  • Volunteer screening
  • Identity verification
  • Background checks
  • Safeguarding clearance
  • Mentor matching
  • Accreditation
  • Membership vetting
  • Professional credential verification

No promises are made about future criminal-record checks, vulnerable-person screening, insurance, legal protection, or supervision. Any future role involving children, vulnerable people, sensitive records, funds, physical events, or legal responsibility would require appropriately designed policies and organizational approval before opening.

Proposed Framework — Not Currently Operational

How a Future Participation Process Could Work

These are conceptual stages without dates, timelines, or guarantees — not a description of a system already operating.

  1. 1

    Clear Opportunity Description

Future opportunities should identify the role, scope, time requirement, responsible contact, and limits.

  2. 2

    Informed Inquiry

A participant should be able to ask questions and understand expectations before providing personal information or committing.

  3. 3

    Appropriate Review

Any review should be proportionate to the role, transparent, lawful, privacy-conscious, and based on formally adopted policy.

  4. 4

    Confirmed Participation

No person should be represented as an IPS volunteer, partner, researcher, organizer, or representative until responsibilities and authorization have been clearly confirmed.

Still Under Development

Areas Requiring Future Organizational Decisions

IPS has not yet adopted formal decisions covering the following. No answers to these questions are implied elsewhere on this website.

  • Who can authorize volunteer roles
  • What information may be collected
  • How applicant data would be stored and deleted
  • Which roles require screening or supervision
  • How complaints and removal would work
  • How partnerships would be approved
  • How research or archival submissions would be evaluated
  • How financial contributions would be accepted and acknowledged
