Four Categories Under Consideration
These are categories IPS may eventually consider, not currently open programs. Each would require its own review and approval before any support could be accepted.
Foundation & Discretionary Research Support
Could eventually support scholarship, archival, and preservation research undertaken by IPS.

What a Future Institutional Record Would Include
No institutional grant, partnership, or covenant has been finalized under this framework. If one is approved in the future, its public record would include the following.
- Named parties
- The supporting organization and IPS, named only with the supporting organization's consent.
- Scope and terms
- What the support covers, any restrictions, and the duration of the arrangement.
- Custodial safeguards
- The cultural and ethical safeguards agreed to before any support was accepted.
Proposed Boundaries for Organizational Review
The following boundaries are proposed for organizational review and have not yet been adopted as formal policy.
Support IPS Would Not Accept
- No donor control over scholarship or cultural interpretation
- No ownership claims over community knowledge
- No commercialization of protected or restricted cultural material
- No support conditioned on discriminatory treatment
- No hidden conflicts of interest
- No publication without appropriate permission or consent
Proposed Review Principles
- Support would be assessed against IPS's mission and existing ethical commitments before any acceptance
- Provenance of funds would be reviewed prior to acceptance
- Cultural and custodial impact would be considered alongside financial terms
- Any accepted support would be publicly disclosed
- Review outcomes, positive or negative, would be documented
A Four-Stage Due-Diligence Model
This is a planning model, not an active grant-processing workflow. No institutional support is currently being reviewed under it.

Initial Inquiry & Identity Review
A prospective institutional supporter's identity and basic organizational information would be reviewed first.

Mission, Provenance & Conflict Assessment
The source of funds, alignment with IPS's mission, and any conflicts of interest would be assessed.

Cultural, Ethical & Custodial Review
Proposed terms would be reviewed for cultural safeguards, custodial responsibilities, and ethical boundaries.

Written Approval, Documentation & Public Disclosure
Only support that receives written approval and is documented would be disclosed publicly as accepted.
Draft Not Yet Published
Policies covering eligibility, conflicts of interest, cultural consent, restricted funding, reporting, and corrections require organizational approval before publication. No such standards document currently exists in final form.
